patting the melon
Day 398: 83团 (Regiment 83) = 0km
The way ahead was just too scary.
So I stayed in and hung out with the people from the hotel:
Took pictures in the kitchen…
…and more pictures…
…and even more in the dining hall:
Then I went to yet another food place…
…and had some 米线 (mixian, rice noodles, a Southern dish):
Took group pictures with little kids:
…and more little kids:
One of them was going to clean up in the restaurant:
And I filmed it all.
Soundtrack: the patting of the melon
-total: 5131,5km

It’s amazing, that the patting of a melon can distract a child from pain.

Wow, you are walking again, making your dream a little bit more true. That’s great, but it leaves your followers with the question: “Do you plan to walk the rest of your way home now?”, “Will there be a “The longest way 2″ book?
Maybe a short update of “The plan” will help to avoid a lot more questions of this kind.
Nice to see that the website is working again.

Havn’t read something from you for a long time. Everything fine? Are you still walking?

Hi Chris,
Good to hear that you’re on the road again. I just happened to read an article about two German guys who did exactly what you are doing now – throughout Germany in the 1930′s with a gigantic football instead of throughout China with your caboose.
Maybe that’s material to be enjoyed on your next rest day:

Enjoy! :)
