My mailman is from Vietnam. He has been living in Germany for many years, and he is very friendly. “You can’t find real Vietnamese food around here,” he once told me with a merciful smile.
Anyway, here’s what he got for me today:
It’s a German book – “Adventurers of the 21st century” – which started shipping today.
Obviously, there are a lot of cool people featured in this book. And one incompetent fool:

About the content: there’s an introduction to The Longest Way, an interview (which reveals my deepest fear), and an excerpt from the manuscript that I am working on right now.
And guess what?
I somehow managed to embed a derogatory term for vagina within the text.
And it’s not vajayjay.

Vor ein paar Monaten habe ich deinen Film entdeckt, danach dein Blog über Wochen von vorne bis hinten gelesen. Als Einer der im Monat mehrmals beruflich mehrere Kontinente bereist, musste ich dich beneiden. Und Neid ist keine Tugend! Du hast mein Lieblingsland wirklich kennen und verstehen gelernt. Davon bin ich mehr als meilenweit entfernt. Ich muss dir danken, denn du hast mir China näher gebracht. Ich bewundere deinen Mut und deine Ausdauer. Ich bin begeistert deinen Erfahrungen und Erlebnissen gefolgt und deine Bilder sprechen ihre eigene Sprache. Bei deinen letzten Blogeinträgen in Urumqi sind mir doch tatsächlich die Tränen gekommen!
Heute habe ich dich im Fernsehen gesehen. Auf DW-TV im Hotel in Seoul :)
Da habe ich mich wirklich gefreut, denn es fühlte sich fast so an, wie einen Bekannten zu sehen.
Ãœbrigens wohnen wir in der selben Stadt!
