I(H)C38 – fish & thunder

There is a huge lake in Western China: é’æµ·æ¹– (Qinghai Lake). It is also known as Kukunor, and both names mean “blue lake”.

I don’t know what this place is like in summer, but it was pretty awesome in winter, mainly because it was frozen over:

February 5th 2007, Lake Qinghai.

If you can’t read Chinese: This is 中国鱼雷å‘射实验基地. Hm… Chinese (blabla) firing testing area. I guess the two characters 鱼雷 (yulei – fish + thunder) don’t stand for dynamite fishing.

So apparently, this used to be a torpedo testing station.

Woohoo!!
