I(H)C37 – kitsch

In every language, there are some expressions that are particularly hard to translate.
In German, one of these words is “Kitsch”.

The dictionary offers a definition: tawdry, vulgarized, or pretentious art, literature, etc., usually with popular or sentimental appeal.

Because this word is so useful, the English language has adopted it, and you can now say something along the lines of:

April 6th 2006, è‹å·ž (Suzhou).

“What a piece of kitsch.”
