cigarettes and jeans and vodka

I hope this doesn’t look like I have nothing else to talk about besides alcohol.
The thing is, I started drinking at 27 (after I stopped walking), so this is a whole new world for me…

Anyways, since many bars in Germany serve this one particular upper class brand of vodka, I was going to give it a try:

Smirnoff Red Label #21. Hailing from Britain, this seems to be a very popular brand in Western Europe and the USA, and apparently even a favorite among Soviet soldiers stationed in Germany after the end of the Cold War. (Wiki says those soldiers basically wanted three things: Marlboro cigarettes, Levi jeans, and Smirnoff vodka.)

But why??

To me, the only way to enjoy this vodka was with lots and lots of fruit juice. Otherwise it was barely tolerable, because it tasted so cheap and awkward. At best a 3 out of 10. Maybe less.

Well spotted Christoph, that sums it up perfectly. You may not have been drinking for long but I’d say your quickly becoming a connoisseur of Vodka. What next, Whisky? I’d certainly recommend dipping your toes into the pleasant alcoholic waters of that type of distilled liquor.

Anto-San: I will get into Whiskey as soon as I feel done with my quest for good vodka! :)
