the beloved one
Let’s see if you remember this place:
Not quite?
Well, how about now:
That’s right. “Hey, you’re the German guy with the long hair and the beard – the walking dude!” they said when I came in, smiling like a Cheshire cat.
Then they gave me another haircut.
…
Well this was nice and very nostalgic, but it was going to get even better, because later today, 申å”å” (Uncle Shen) was going to take me to his neighborhood to meet a special friend:
Here she is:
Oh I can’t even tell you just how much I have missed her.
My dear dear beloved Caboose…
She looked fine as ever, only some parts had gotten a bit rusty:
But besides that, she was exactly the way I had left her almost two years ago:
We taped over some parts:
Then we took her to a friend’s bike repair shop to have him look over her tires:
What a brave vehicle she is.
…
I figured, the only way to end such a romantic day, was to invite my 申å”å” to a meal in a fancy Uighur place:
Happiness was in the air.

What an emotional reunion again….!!!

Maybe I missed a response on a previous post, but all this foreshadowing is killing me!
The “Dude, you’ve gained weight” and the “I have about one month to lose some of it” comments (from the Prelude, Interlude, or Leisure? post) in combination with the caboose!
What’s going on here? Are you about to pick up where you left off? God, college football starts this weekend and you (might) start walking again! Life IS good!

Just catching up on your trip and I’m mighty happy to see you back to walking. Even more so to know you’re reunited with the lovely caboose. You’re looking good together! ;)
Have fun…

Steven: I think both of us almost cried! :)
Andrew: Sorry I didn’t respond to this earlier. I was very happy when I read your comment! In fact I will be walking until the end of September, kind of as a summer vacation. Have been missing it too much!!
Petra: Hehe, I am fat, but the caboose is still very pretty! :)
