the pearl

The weather changes so fast over here, you don’t even have enough time to say “hey look, the weather has changed”, and it has changed – again.

Anyway today it was totally awesome, and it was obviously time to get a tan (or a sunburn). So to Шамора (Shamora, maybe from the Chinese word 沙漠 (shamo) – the desert) beach it was:

Who could have figured that the Russian shores were so beautiful?

I just dived in there and let the waves crash in my face:

Maybe they would take some of my worries away? I suddenly had to chuckle at my own naivety, and then I had to chuckle because I just realized that I was bathing in the sea in Russia, chuckling. I was feeling happy.

Other parts of the seashore are even nicer than Шамора, like this place called жемчужина (zhemchuzhina – from the Chinese word 珍珠 (zhenzhu) – the pearl):

There were only a few people around. Some diver dudes were hanging out on a rock:

(I had absolutely no idea how they had gotten up there. One of them was bleeding pretty bad from a couple of deep scratches – maybe that had something to do with it?)

And there was София (Sofia):

She is a student at the Academy of Fine Arts, and this work is part of her assignment. It takes a while to complete one painting, but she says that she really likes the way how the rocks change their color during the different hours of the day. Today she was listening to Depeche Mode on her earphones, and I noticed that her eyes were the same color as the sea she was painting:

We stayed until it got hazy, then took one last look at the sea and left:

I wanted to see the city dump, which was apparently located directly on the seashore. I wondered what would happen with all the trash so close to the water, so I was going to check it out. But the dump was already being relocated to another place:

This was part of the preparations for the 2012 APEC Asian Summit in Vladivostok. A good thing I guess.

I was going to find a bunker on a small beach after this, but instead we got lost and I ended up taking pictures of horses for my sister…

…and enjoying a few bites of shashlik and a few gulps of vodka with a group of camping dudes and dudettes:

I didn’t care much for the bunker after this, but I found another taste for the collection:

Мерная (Mernaya) vodka. Went down pretty easily. 7/10.

…oh, and I had to share THIS with you guys:

Isn’t he the coolest dude ever?

Respect.
