I(H)C17 – 哥们
Friday, January 2nd, 2009It was in Suizhou (随州) I think, but I am not sure about that anymore.
Anyway I found myself with CFP doing something about a renovated old city, when suddenly this bunch of swimmer dudes appeared in my viewfinder. They were in their trunks, radiating with confidence. Of course I had to ask for a picture.
Before I took the shot I pleaded the girl with the umbrella to pose in the background. I needed her to show that it was a cold and rainy day – not exactly swimming weather. The Yangtse River (长江) seemed like a huge mass of modeling clay that was slowly rolling down the land, and I don’t think anyone could have persuaded me to go in there.
The dudes didn’t mind a bit though. They were manly men who were going for a swim:
Along the Yangtse River, Hubei, May 23rd 2007.
哥们儿 (gemenr) is what they were.
Buddies. Brothers. Pals.
Radiating with confidence.
And rightly so!
