I(H)C05 β Little Ones
When I was in Sanya on Hainan Island for the first time in the spring of 2006, I came across these kids who were shooting pool in the back of a small alley.
Maybe they thought I looked funny or something, anyway they were cheering at me like crazy while I was walking by, so I challenged this little dude to a game of eight-ball:
Sanya, January 9th 2006.
I should have known I didn’t stand a chance.
It was his table.

Skeptischer Blick – lange hast du keine Kinderfotos mehr gezeigt. Das Warten hat sich gelohnt.

It's probably because they haven't seen a Caucasian before.
I visited Vietnam (my parents' homeland) a long time ago, and we along with some younger cousins who lived in the countryside of Vietnam took a boat to a bigger city. On the boat ride there, they saw another boat with Caucasian tourists. They pointed and asked, "Are those white people?"
At the time, I giggled to myself that they asked such a silly question. Then I realized– being from the countryside and being young as they were– they had never seen Caucasians at all.
It's very innocent and sweet at the same time.

Jacklyn: The kids there have seen their share of Russian tourists, I am sure. But they are still innocent and sweet! :)
