I (heart) China
Since I won’t be walking around anywhere for the next few months, I would like to take this opportunity to start something new on the blog during the meantime.
You see, the Year of the Rat is getting old, and the 2008 “One World – One Dream” Beijing Olympics are long over now. Since then, presidents have been elected and stock markets have crashed. The world has been standing by, dumbfounded & paralyzed, gazing at the horrible news of terrorist attacks and our inherited wars against the poor and the helpless.
I think the focus of the public eye has shifted away from China for the time being.
But going through my picture archives I realize that I have many memories from the last 3 years that I would like to share, and I am going to start with this one:
Beijing, September 24th 2006.
This was part of a job I did for a magazine in Beijing. My boss fixed me up with a bunch of white T-shirts saying “I (heart) Beijing”, and I was supposed to put them on friendly-looking people (especially foreigners) and get some pictures snapped.
I think the three guys on this shot were from Italy, or maybe two of them were from Italy and one of them was from China, I don’t remember.
Or maybe they were all from China.
Anyway, they looked very friendly.
