the joy of dogs
When I arrived at my home in Bad Nenndorf yesterday night, it seemed like Puki the dog was happier than anyone else.
I’m going to stay here for a couple of months. Get some work done. Keep in shape. Be with my family and friends.
Wait for the winter and the bad things to go away.

The happiness of dogs? Shoveling gravel in the rain? Did it ever occur to you that you may well have become a Zen master?
In the event that you have, then allow me to recommend some authors (whom you may already know, but nevertheless, seem to fit your contemplative and melancholy mood)…
The American Poet Gary Snyder, who writes with an unusually candid naturalism that I think you would appreciate…
And Peter Matthiessen, who’s book “the Snow Leopard” involves no small amount of walking in Asia, as well as heartbreak and big mountains…

Da bist Du die letzten Meter aber ziemlich zügig gegangen.
Ist übrigens eine ziemliche Sauerei, die Du da anrichtest. Ich habe ja schon vor einiger Zeit geschrieben, dass Deine Seite für mich so ziemlich das einzig Interessante im Netz ist. Und jetzt auf unbestimmte Zeit ausgesetzt. Da kann das Netz ja auch gleich stillgelegt werden.

P.S. So schnell wirst Du mich als Kommentator aber eh nicht los.
Und außerdem: wenn Du endlich angekommen bist und mal ein bißchen Ruhe hast, Flo Li Anh und ich haben sicherlich nichts gegen einen Dritten im Bunde, wenn es darum geht den Harz unsicher zu machen. Kannst Dir ja dann mal Gedanken darüber machen.

sounds good, christoph. we will wait the winter out with you. just throw us some tidbits of wisdom every once in a while so we don’t have to go through thelongestwithdrawal for TOO long.

Arbeit hat noch keinem geschadet……
Ein paar Kilometer durch China latschen, nicht wissen wer man ist, Krise kriegen, aus dem Vollen schöpfen und in BN überwintern! Toll!
Ansonsten schöne Bilder und anregende Kommentare (aber in Deiner Haut möchte ich nicht strecken)!
Mach mal weiter mit Rumdödeln - aber davon wird die Birne auch nicht klar. Manchmal hilft Arbeit!

hmmm. what i meant by that is WE, your loyal followers, are going through withdrawal pains, and we can’t wait so long between your entries! i was trying to be cute, but there you go, my sense of humor is sometimes dry.

Christoph - I am so glad you are at home with family for a while, even though I hope you will continue writing thelongestway….take some time to heal and contemplate, and if you get bored, you can always come visit your family in the USA!
