the cry-train
day 250: [嘉峪关 - (jiayuguan)] = 0km
We slept until lunchtime. Then we had some food and some tea, and then we sat around doing nothing.
…it was very late in the afternoon that we finally decided to take a cab into the desert:
We went to a place southwest of the city called 第一墩 - “the first pillar”:
…the western end of the Great Wall.
There’s a river that serves as a natural ending (or starting) point for the Wall:
We had fun taking pictures for a while:
Then we started walking north, alongside the Wall:
The weather wasn’t too hot, and walking felt nice & easy:
At one point we had to make a railroad crossing though:
Note: the flesh-wound on my knee is the result of a head-on collision with the freight train in the video.
Note: the train got it even worse than me. I think I even heard it cry.
…
It took us more than two hours to get to 嘉峪关城楼 - “Jiayuguan Fort”:
Of course the sights were already closed when we got there:
…so we wandered around on the outside for a little while, snapping pics and chatting away about this and that:
Then we went home, thinking: maybe we’ll just come back tomorrow?
Robozwerg says:
“Watch where you’re stepping if Chris has already been there sometime in the past.”
Soundtrack: Toto - “Africa”
—total: 3286,2km

Volltreffer. Bist ja richtig fleißig und die Bücher klingen interessant. Aber wie gesagt, die Tochter wird bald 19, da sind Deine Werke wohl nicht mehr so angesagt. Schade.
