嘉峪关 – Jiayuguan
day 240: 酒泉 (jiuquan) – 嘉峪关 (jiayuguan) = 24,6km
I had just found out the Olympic Torch Relay was scheduled to pass through 嘉峪关 (jiayuguan) on July 6th. That was…tomorrow!! So I had to be quick!
…I rushed by the wonders of suburban construction:
I swept past the gorgeous mountain scenery:
There was a piece of the Great Wall somewhere in the eastern part of the city, but I just snapped a pic and then I was on my way again:
There were flags everywhere:
Street vendors were clogging the whole place with their souvenirs:
Everyone seemed so excited about the big event tomorrow:
…all the big ones:
…and especially the little ones:
All the hotels were completely booked, except for 嘉峪关宾馆 (jiayuguan hotel), where the rent was very high.
Well, what could I do?
Most of the cops were staying there as well, so at least the place was probably extremely safe:
I went straight up to my room, took a shower and ordered some food.
Then I looked out the window, and there it was, the city of 嘉峪关, laying peacefully in the desert.
So many little children laying in their beds, their hearts beating…
…waiting for tomorrow’s big event.

well, tomorrow ist hier schon vorüber, und hier war nur chillen angesagt, sonst nix.

Nur chillen, von wegen. 4:30 ging der Wecker und 9 Stunden maloche ohne Pause.
Und schon wieder finde ich das Nachtfoto von allen das beste.
Wäre es Dir eigentlich lieber gewesen, wenn der ganze Trubel deinetwegen gewesen wäre?

Ba Lli, warte mal bis er in Deutschland ankommt.
Sag mal, wie machst du das eigentlich mit Strom? Ich mein unterwegs Musik hören, Laptop mitschleppen, Internetverbindung per Handy, Digicam… soweit meine Erfahrungen sind, kann man schon genug Akkus mitschleppen um sein Equipment ein paar Tage autak am Laufen zu halten, allerdings wär das für ne längere Reise (wie deine) doch recht unpraktisch. Ist in jedem Hotel nachts große Akkuladeaktion angesagt? Ach ja, und wie finanzierst du dir dein Leben eigentlich? Mehr nach dem Pfadfindergedanken "Ich helf irgendwo mit und krieg dafür ein Dach über den Kopf" oder schleppst du ausreichend Asche in der jeweiligen Landeswährung mit dir rum? Wie geht das in Gegenden wo nicht an jeder Ecke ein Bankautomat steht? :)

Momo: Meistens geht das mit Strom in den Hotels. Geld hab ich ein bisschen in der Tasche, ab und zu Bankautomat. Easy-bisi.

Hallo, ich hoffe die Füsse halten das bis Deutschland durch. Wird auch ein Stück der Strecke mit einem Fahrzeug zurückgelegt??
