phonelessness
Sunday, August 17th, 2008day 283: [北京 (Beijing)] = 0km
Juli had left me alone today and went out to see her best friend.
Friends are important, and she told me she’d be back tomorrow, so I spent an afternoon in a café in the 五é“å£ (wudaokou) university area:
Then I realized I needed a new cell phone (mine already showed some serious corrosion damage from being outside all the time).
I looked all over town…
…in the department stores…
…and in the infamous ä¸å…³æ‘ (zhongguancun) electronic market:
I just wasn’t able to find a decent mobile with basic resistance to shock, dust, and splash water.
Do people don’t need outdoor phones anymore?
…and because friends are so important, I was very happy that my main man å°é»‘ (xiaohei – help from inside and outside, running inversely, lounge & destroy, rounding up the capital) finally had time to get together for dinner:
The poor guy works in advertisement and seems to be busy as hell during the Olympics.
Boy am I glad that I’m just a tourist.
