day 192: 西固 (xigu) – 河口 (hekou)= 26,5km

I safely got out of the power plant and found the river again:

An easy day with fair weather. One could have said a boring day.

Sometimes I would run into people outside playing games:

So far so good.

Until at some point my GPS unit decided it was a good time to break down.

I looked at the display fading away. The sun was burning on my head, I had the salty taste of sweat on my lips, and the backpack suddenly felt a lot lighter.

anger —

There I was, cursing the day, shaking my arms and fists and screaming on the top of my lungs (so much for my “inner peace” – inner peace – no more walking) until I found out that it was only the memory card that had died – and it was merely the maps that were gone. Oh well…

After I had morphed into a human being again, these little friends showed me the way up to a temple:

A Taoist shrine built in the 1980s that seemed kind of hidden in the mountains:

There was nothing really spectacular about this place, but I liked it:

In fact I liked it so much I came up with this idea to make a short video:

Now forgive me if this was even more boring than my other videos. Could this be a subconscious way of punishing innocent people for my own mishaps?

I said goodbye to the dancing horses at the temple:

And then I crossed the river one last time:

Farewell 黄河!

Eventually, I arrived at a very dramatic junction:

To the left is 青海 (Qinghai) and 西藏 (Tibet), to the right is 新疆 (Xinjiang).

I got a room in a motel, had some noodles and bought ten bananas:

Then I retired for the day, putting my GPS unit and my anger to rest.
