Monday, May 5th, 2008day 179: [in the air] = 0km
I had to get up at 5am to make it to the airport on time.
My old shoes:
…suddenly faced early retirement. I didn’t miss them.
My first walk into the airplane and then out of the airplane today ended in Beijing:
Then I had to pick up my luggage to transfer to my second flight:
I had only taken some necessities in a plastic bag and left the rest with the hotel, since I was determined to continue walking in about a week or so.
Then I hopped on a shuttle bus from Terminal 2 to the new Terminal 3:
I remember lots of German newspaper articles claiming that this was to be one of the largest and most modern airports in the world:
I wandered around for a little bit:
And I thought they hadn’t been kidding:
It seemed like one massive and luxurious statement of China’s economic growth over the past one-and-a-half decades:
Much to my surprise, many of the personnel were actually able to speak some English and-
CHRIS, SHUT UP ABOUT YOUR AIRPORTS AND TELL US WHERE YOU WERE GOING! - AND WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU THINKING ANYWAYS TAKING A BREAK FROM YOUR TRIP JUST LIKE THAT?!
Um…eh…
Well, the first thing I saw when I climbed out of the subway in München, Germany was this:
Then a beautiful young girl took my hand and led me to her place:
It was her that I had come here for.
The sun was shining and I was feeling very weird and very happy at the same time.
