others too
Monday, January 28th, 2008day 81: 翟店 (zhaidian) - 万荣 (wanrong) = 13,7km
Many people I see ask me why I don’t take a bus or at least ride a bicycle.
But there are others walking through the white as well:
These two guys are wandering musicians from Shandong-province (山东). They are walking north, while I’m headed south, and neither of us is going to be at home for the spring festival.
Obviously, this doesn’t affect me that much, but I think for Chinese people it must be hard to be separated from their loved ones around this time of the year.
Well, wish them good luck and a happy new year.
…
I stopped at a gas station to sit down and have a rest:
Originally I was only hoping to hang out in the service area for a while, but the friendly young family who was working there invited me in for a chat:
This little friend is just trying out some new shiny red clothes, especially bought for the spring festival next week:
I spent like an hour in this nice warm little home, then I was out there again, cursing and whining about the horrible weather, walking the last 5km to my destination:
As you can see on the map, I am really close to the weird thing now. I would ask people on the way:
They tell me there’s a mountain south of here, so that must be it - but I can’t see it just yet.
I’m excited!
